Connecting JIRA to Subject7

In order to connect your JIRA to Subject7, click on Administration menu and select Ticketing System submenu.

Ticketing System submenu launches the following screen where you can add your JIRA credentials. This is specific to each user in the account and not an account-wide settings.

Authentication Methods

  1. Basic:

    1. If your Jira is a server instance, please use the same username and password you use to log into JIRA, but if your Jira is cloud-based, please use your username and API Token as your password.

    2. Enter the URL of your JIRA system and click Save. You can use Test Authorization link to make sure your credentials are correct and Subject7 can connect to your JIRA successfully.

  2. OAuth 2.0 (Cloud)

    1. Fill the URL field with your Jira cloud instance URL. The Callback URL field will change after it detects it as a cloud instance.

    2. Navigate to Developer console and log into your Jira user

    3. Click Create> OAuth 2.0 integration

    4. Enter a name for your application, agree to the terms and click Create

    5. After the app is created, click Permissions from the left panel and click Add under Actions next to the below permissions:

    6. Click Configure next to User identity API and click Edit Scopes. Then enable the checkbox next to 'View active user profile' scope and save changes.

    7. Go back to Permissions and click Configure next to Jira API. Once there. Under the Jira platform REST API section, click Edit Scopes. Then select these scopes:

      1. View Jira issue data

      2. View user profiles

      3. Create and manage issues

    8. Save changes

    9. Click Settings on the left panel and copy the Client ID and Secret then fill them on Subject7.

    10. Click Authorization from the left panel and click Add under Action

    11. Copy the Callback URL from Subject7 and paste it in the Callback URL section. Save Changes

    12. Back on Subject7, click Connect to host

    13. A popup should appear to request access, click Accept.

    14. You can click Test Authorization icon to test your connection

    15. You will see that connection is successful. Click Save & Close.

  3. OAuth 2.0 (Data Center)

    1. Fill the URL field with your Jira Data Center instance URL. The Callback URL field will change after it detects it as a data center instance.

    2. In Jira, click the Gear icon and navigate to Applications

    3. Click Application links on the left panel and click Create link

    4. Select External application and select Incoming

    5. Add a name for your application and paste the URL copied in step a in the Redirect URL field.

    6. Select Write permission under Permissions and click Save

    7. Copy the Client ID and Client secret

    8. Click Connect to Host and click Allow in the popup which appears

    9. You can click Test Authorization icon to test your connection

    10. You will see that connection is successful. Click Save & Close.
